Key Note Speaker of the Urban Research Day Ferdinand Richard finally arrived to the conference after a travel from Marseille to Malmö that due to the heavy storm "Sven" took 24 instead of 4 hours. Ferdinand Richard from Marseille is co-founder of La Friche de la Belle-de-Mai. Ferdinand is also the Chairman of The Roberto Cimetta Fund and the founding Director of AMI in Marseilles.
He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Cultural Policies Observatory in Grenoble, an expert of the Agenda 21 Culture Commission of the Cities and Local Governments United Network, and an expert for UNESCO. Ferdinand told us the story about how a Tobacco Factory in Marseille was transformed into a Centre for Culture -- La Friche de la Belle-de-Mai.
