May 11 mark 25 years of series of nuclear tests that were conducted in Pokhran in 1998. The tests included both underground and aboveground detonations, marked a significant milestone in India’s nuclear program.
A team of scientists under PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee had conducted five nuclear tests on May 11 and 13 in 1998. India’s second round of nuclear tests, codenamed “Operation Shakti”.
May 11 is being celebrated as National Technology Day to acknowledge the contribution of scientists and engineers in the development of the country.
For 2023, the theme is 'School to Startups-Igniting Young Minds to Innovate.'
