What better way to celebrate the coming of a new year than by standing trackside in the dark while waiting for yet another variation of locomotive combination to appear on the SCT/SBR Melbourne to Dooen (Horsham) container service. And I wasn't disappointed, noting the signal turning from red to green shortly before the noisy train rolled by with a long rake of mostly empty container wagons.
