Getting a thermometer is always a question for many who want to try some sort of subzero cooling. There are many brands that offer models out there, and nowadays you can even find such a thing as an integrated feature with a motherboard, mainly the Asus OC Panel, which was included with some high-end motherboard models some time ago, like Rampage V Extreme, Maximus VI Extreme and so on.
Not all of these meters are very affordable and the range is quite high. That is why most end-up getting some cheaper alternative as their first meter and you can generally get pretty much the same end result with a meter like that. Prices usually start at around 30-40€ for the cheapest ones and the most expensive ones like the Fluke 52 II we take a look on this video, starts at around 400€ new here in Europe. So that is why it is hard to recommend a meter like this to new guys as it is a very big investment.
The main differences a meter like this has compared to cheaper ones is the large footprint with a very nice display with backlight. The Fluke 50 series meters have pretty much real time response time and the accuracy is obviously top notch, with support for all of the different probe types, even T type which can measure liquid helium temperatures.
I would still recommend the Tenmars TM-82N for anyone who is just starting, and one of these Fluke meters who is really serious about testing modern and expensive hardware.

You can find the fluke thermometers as new from the stores, or hunt for a used one from sites like eBay.
