A mindfulness techniques used in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to learn to observe the thoughts with openness and awareness rather than trying to control, alter or eliminate thoughts. This helps to to cultivate acceptance and to learn to live with uncomfortable emotions or thoughts. Acceptance is a key role as noted in the name, as accepting our internal experience means we can begin to use the energy we have previously been using to stop/change unwanted internal experiences to work towards our values and goals.
