Dr. Perez-Gurri, FACS, discusses the differences between saline and silicone implants.
Saline implants mimic natural breast tissue the most. However, saline implants are a lot more firm.
When you come in for your consultation you will discuss the different implant types with our board-certified plastic surgeons. They will help you decide on the best implant type, incision area, and implant size for you.
The goal is to help you achieve your expectations while keeping you safe and healthy.

Silicone breast implants: Silicone implants are made of a silicone-based cohesive gel. These implants feel the most like natural breast tissue. Dr. Perez-Gurri uses Sientra® and Mentor® breast implants. We find that silicone gel implants are generally the most popular among patients.
Saline breast implants: This type of implant is filled with a sterile saline solution. Saline implants can feel firmer and can be slightly adjusted during surgery for precise results. The implants can be placed through a small incision, and if they leak, the body can absorb the solution easily. Saline implants do have some downside, as they can sometimes ripple or look and feel less natural than silicone implants.
