Russian President Vladimir Putin welcomed on Tuesday the leaders of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), a regional organisation dominated by Russia, in St. Petersburg for the group's annual informal summit.
The meeting of the post-Soviet states is taking place over two days on December 26 and 27.
Leaders will also hold separate meetings on the sidelines of the summit.
