U.S. President Biden said his administration has ordered enough COVID-19 pills to treat 10 million Americans.
His statement came on Tuesday... following the results of a study by Pfizer on how its antiviral pill..."Paxlovid"...could reduce hospitalizations and deaths of adults at high risk by 89-percent.
Biden said his administration decided to purchase the Pfizer pills in advance... based on promising data that antiviral pills would become a significant step forward in tackling the pandemic.
Pfizer is still waiting for the FDA to authorize its pills.
News outlets have reported that the FDA decision could come before the end of this year.
