Join Keith Courville, Director of Professional Development and University Programs for the Associated Professional Educators of Louisiana (A+PEL) as he walks student teachers at Louisiana Tech through the Student Learning Target (SLT) process. Student Learning targets are part of Louisiana's new teacher evaluation system "COMPASS", and meant for teachers who do not fall under a value added measure. Student Learning targets support teachers in teaching the common core and providing rigor in the classroom. Specific topics covered in this video series include: how to set a rigorous learning goal, how to use data to drive instruction, how to set goals for gifted students, how to understand rigor, how to use professional learning communities and collaboration to set goals, and understanding new school reform policies.
