New IRCC Update: The new Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship 2024 intake will open on May 21, 2024
The IRCC will begin extending invitations to apply to 35,700 potential sponsors, with the goal of getting up to 20,500 complete applications.
This year, 5,500 more invitations will be sent as compared to parents and grandparents sponsorship 2023 intake.
Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will be sending out invitations over the course of approximately 2 weeks, beginning May 21st.
Once again, interest in the sponsor form will not be open for new sponsors.
The immigration department will extend invitations to apply to randomly chosen potential sponsors from the pool of the remaining interest-to-sponsor forms submitted in 2020.
IRCC used this approach for the intakes in 2021, 2022, and 2023 and is now using the same approach in 2024.
Sponsors are advised to check the email address they gave in 2020 if they sent in an interest-to-sponsor form in 2020 but did not get an invitation to apply in 2021, 2022, or 2023.
Those invited to apply for the 2023 intake must electronically submit their applications through the Permanent Residence Portal or the Representative Permanent Residence Portal.
Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship 2024 Eligibility
To be eligible to qualify to sponsor your parents or grandparents for PR (permanent residency) in Canada, you must be:
a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or an Indian enrolled under the Canadian Indian Act who is at least eighteen years old.
must fulfill the IRCC financial requirement and have enough money to sustain the family you wish to sponsor, along with acceptable proof of income for the last three years.
must have submitted an interest-to-sponsor form for PGP in 2020.
The best choice is still a Canada Super Visa
Those who want to be with their parents and grandparents in Canada but cannot take part in this sponsorship can apply for a super visa, which has a ten-year validity and permits several entries.
Super visa holders can stay in Canada for up to 5 years without having to leave the country, and they can stay for a maximum of five years at a time.
Additionally, they can apply for a 2-year extension after the completion of their 5-year stay.
These changes allow longer reunions between the parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents.
Update on #PGP 2024: Starting May 21, we will invite 35,700 potential sponsors from the pool of remaining interest to sponsor forms submitted in 2020 to sponsor parents and grandparents. We will send out invitations over the course of approximately 2 weeks. If you submitted an…
