Sudan's capital city of Khartoum is once again at the centre of intense fighting between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). At least 23 people were killed and over 40 were injured in Khartoum as the Sudanese army launched a renewed offensive. Khartoum has been under the control of the RSF. But in the last one week, the Sudanese army has been gaining ground. According to reports, the army is advancing towards Khartoum from nearby Omdurman city, which is in its control. Sudan's army-backed government is currently based in Port Sudan on the Red Sea coast. Meanwhile, the RSF has taken control of the capital and key areas in the rest of Sudan.
