A trip to Scotland in September 2014 with my friend Colin. 3 big mountain routes in 3 days, in 3 different locations.
* Cioch West, Cioch Nose and Integrity on Sron na Ciche, Black Cuillins, Skye
* Centurion, Ben Nevis, Fort William
* Agag's Groove via Curved Ridge, Buchaille Etive Mor, Glencoe
Music is by Breabach, a band I have caught a few times at Nettlebed Folk Club, and by Rachel Newton, who we saw on our first night in Scotland, when we met up at Aviemore.
The morning after the gig after we were out of the door at 5am to head to Skye. After a long walk in and a 10 pitch route we slept it off at the campsite by the Sligachan Hotel, then made another early start and headed to Ben Nevis - another long walk up to the start of ‘Centurion’, a classic HVS route.
Climbing Centurion went well once the rain had calmed down a bit - miraculously the climb was mostly dry. Although I did injure myself on the scramble down when a large rock gave way beneath my feet and I hit my ribs on a boulder.
After initially thinking the climbing was over, next morning the weather was amazing and we had to climb something. We headed over to Glencoe for an easy but classic mountain route, 'Agag's Groove'. Still a bit of a walk in, but not as much as Ben Nevis.
A very successful trip all around. Must plan another one!
