The bearing cups we prepared in Part 1 of this mini-series can now be mounted on the rear roller shaft. With the roller halves assembled and in place on the shaft, the bearings/cup assemblies are knocked onto either of the shaft (00:00:23). Remember to install the adjustable bearing cup with the elongated holes opposite the chain side.
The entire rear roller assembly can now be installed in the mower frame (00:04:56). For this 14" solid deck machine where the sole plate was already in place, we removed the chain side of the mower because the completed rear roller assembly wouldn't otherwise fit .
A 17" twin-rail machine (with welded side plates) didn't present the same problem, due either to the extra width of the frame and corresponding wiggle room or because the sole plate wasn't in place (we leave the math as an exercise for the viewer…).
With the frame back together, the bearing cups are bolted into place (00:07:32).

About me and this channel: I'm Michael, a homeowner and aspiring lawn addict. I make these videos to share as much as I can, as best I can, from my recent experience rebuilding two Scott Bonnar 45 mowers. Although I'm a passionate wood worker and ex-IT guy, I have zero mechanical training. I'm no expert on these subjects but I learn by sharing and it encourages me to grow a better lawn and build a better mower if I know you're watching!
