S778RVU was new to Stagecoach Manchester as 16778 in 1998. After it has retired in 7/2016, Mortons Travel purchased it for their contract fleet, which mainly operates school services and rail replacement work.
Stagecoach chose the long wheelbase chassis and low height Alexander RL type body, like their Leyland Olympians in the late 80's, and the seating arrangement has not changed. The only engine offered was Volvo D10A-245 which could meet Euro II emission standard, and a Voith DIWA 863.3 gearbox was coupled to it.
