About this video: If you want to know how to download and install mods from different Minecraft versions, this is the video for you! We show you exactly how to get mods from all Minecraft versions. From 1.12 to 1.18 to 1.20, you will be able to play mods from Forge, Fabric, or any versions. Now, it is worth noting that you cannot use mods from older versions in newer versions or vise-versa. You also can’t play Forge and Fabric or other mod loaders together. But you can easily switch between Forge and Fabric mods or different Minecraft versions. So, without anymore delay, here is how to get mods from different versions in Minecraft!

First things first, you will need to download and install Forge, Fabric, or any other mod installer you want. You will also need to install these for any of the Minecraft versions you want to install mods on. For example 1.12.2 Forge and 1.18.2 Forge and 1.16.2 Fabric. Each version will need to be installed if you want mods on all three.

Once you have your mod loaders installed, go into the Minecraft Launcher and click on installations. Then, create new profiles selecting the version of Minecraft Forge or Fabric you want. After you have done this, click the three dots on the profile and click edit. Then, click to change the game directory folder. Navigate to the .minecraft, versions, and then select the Forge or Fabric version folder here. Confirm/select/save this folder as your game directory. Now, repeat this for all the other versions of Forge, Fabric, etc. you want.

To install mods into these, go back to the edit version menu and click the folder next to game directory. Create a mods folder here if there isn’t one and drag-and-drop your mods into it. Again, you can only install mods that work with the version of Forge or Fabric you want to play. At this point, you can now play Minecraft with your mods! Just select the installation you want and click Play on it.

You will need to create new worlds or move your existing worlds over. Overall though, I recommend new worlds as they will have all the mods you have installed from the start.
