China has blasted the European Union over a resolution against Hong Kong's leader John Lee. China's ministry of foreign affairs in Hong Kong called the resolution a 'publicity stunt' which was 'doomed to fail.' The European Parliament's resolution called for the European Council to introduce "targeted sanctions" against John Lee and other officials "responsible for the ongoing crackdown on human rights in Hong Kong."
