21-year-old Dania grew up in a Christian community on the Faroe Islands. She has moved to Tórshavn and is seeing Trygvi, a hip-hop artist known as Silvurdrongur (Silver Kid). He comes from a secular family and writes poems about the shadow sides of humanity. Trygvi's courage to write brutally honest lyrics, fascinates Dania and she starts to write a collection of critical poems called 'Skál' ('Cheers'), about the double life that she and other youths live in a conservative Christian community.
The New Nordic Voice competition introduces promising Nordic filmmakers. Their work has not previously been screened in the Nordisk Panorama Film Festival competition programme, and the selected films are among the first releases by the filmmaker.
