In this special conversation that took place during Dubai Watch Week, Tim Mosso discusses the origin and philosophy of Singer Reimagined with Marco Borraccino; watch designer, Porsche enthusiast; and managing director and co-founder of the technically innovative watch house.
Singer Vehicle Design is the vision of Rob Dickinson, former car designer and musician, who restores and reinterprets Porsche 911s to bespoke, modern perfection. A love of cars and admiration for Dickinson’s work is what brought Borraccino and Dickinson together, and from there, they ‘started dreaming about fantastic things.’
Singer Reimagined launched in 2017 with a disruptive vision for the chronograph – a true collaboration between design and mechanics. Borraccino conceptualized a new chrono architecture with the chronograph hours, minutes, and seconds coaxially mounted in the center of the dial and the time display along the periphery. He serendipitously met Jean-Marc Wiederrech, founder of Agenhor, the respected Geneva-based movement developer, who was working on a movement with centralized chronograph indications. His design was a match for what Jean-Marc was developing, and from there, the Track1 was born.
Upon the occasion of Dubai Watch Week, Singer Reimagined presented the latest edition of the Track1, the Emirates Edition, featuring a black matte ceramic-aluminum case, deep khaki green dial, and golden details. Borraccino describes this watch as a metaphor for the Emirates – a fantastic contrast between technology and tradition.
