STORYLINE:
A suicide truck bomb exploded at a police checkpoint on the outskirts of Ramadi city on Tuesday, killing 15 people and wounding about 25, police said.
The fuel tanker blast occurred about 6 pm local time (1500gmt) five kilometres (3 miles) north of Ramadi, in an area that contains several stores.
Nine Iraqi policemen and six civilians were killed and about 25 civilians wounded, according to police
Ramadi, the capital of Anbar province, is a frequent target of attacks by insurgents, who often target Iraqi police and soldiers, accusing them of being traitors for collaborating with the US-led coalition and Iraq's democratically elected government.
