The Nagorno-Karabakh Defense Army today (April 5) released footage that it said showed the downing of an Azerbaijani drone a day earlier.
Armenia’s Defense Ministry spokesperson, Artsrun Hovhannisyan, told RIA Novosti that the the Nagorno-Karabakh Army position, located south of the front lines, “was hit by another drone of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces,” before sharing the footage to his own Facebook account.
The video was released the day after reports quoting Hovhannisyan said that an Azerbaijani drone had hit a bus carrying Armenian volunteers, killing seven people.
The tense situation between Azerbaijan and the Armenian-backed Nagorno-Karabakhover region intensified at the beginning of the month. The breakaway republic has been subject to several outbreaks of violence since a fragile truce ended more than 6 years of warfare in 1994.
