How to go around the world and get paid for it?

I guess that you expect me to tell you some clichés like: Fins sponsor, collect money from donations or raise a Face book campaign if every one of your friends give you 10$ it will be enough…guys no! It doesn’t work that way. If you want to be noticed from sponsors or somebody to spend money for you, first you have to proof yourself. Simple, but how to do it if we have no money to travel? Again paragraph 22!
Another option will be to quit your job, sell everything and go around the world by motorcycle sounds like a great adventure. It is actually, no questions about it. I had this idea in some stage. I actually calculated everything and I was almost ready to do it.
The problem was that being a responsible husband and father, like many of you, this was not an easy decision. To put on the scale everything you have on the name of the adventure is a bit… I would say different. More I thought better I realized the negatives of such a trip. Let me explain to you with more details:
Everything started as you know with Charlie Bormann and Ewan McGregor. They made this great trip Long way round and completely change the way it should be done. Of course there are many others before that, but they were the first who actually showed everything on camera.
This trip was like the spark I need to burn my fire. Anyway, even that their journey was great they saw one very small part of the world. Actually it was 20,000 miles crossing the globe from west to east. The idea I had was much bigger than that. I was planning to go to all 5 continents and visit as more as possible countries.
Regarding to my calculations the time I need was at least one year and no less than 45,000 $. As I said the finance part of the trip I can arrange by selling some of the properties I have got, but the time was a different story.
Most of you know how difficult is to convince our wives for month or two, thanks to the great system I had, it work without any problem for me, but one year is something completely different. Let’s say that I can ménage to do this as well, the biggest question: Am I taking the right decision? Is still there!
To give up the family, the business and everything I had was impossible task for me and I guess that it will be the same for many of you. As I said, many did it, but I cannot find enough courage to do it.
Because it was my dream and as you know I never give up I need to make another plan. There are no problems only solutions. So, instead of trying to do it at once, I decided to go on different small trips.
I was thinking and now I am completely sure that this way have many more advantages than the original plan. Let me give more details:
1. Time to prepare the bike and yourself much better. Very important of you want to have trouble free trips.
2. Option to go on each trip with the proper machine. Again, this will help you to make the trip much easier and safer of course.
3. Possibility to learn from the mistakes and correct it for the next trip. To gain priceless experience.
4. Time to think and make better routes. The things are change, new roads are build, political situation is changing in some countries and many more.
5. More time for your family. I don’t have to explain how important it is.
6. Possibility to save money for every next trip. Money the engine of the world!
7. Great opportunity to make strong friendships with many people around the world. This will help you more than you can imagine.
8. Possibility to change the plan at every moment if you need to. Unexpected circumstances for example dead family member or some serious health problems.
9. Option to stop for year or two, if you have to. To complete something more important for you.
And number ten is the most interesting, at least for me. Possibility to create your own brand and transfer your passion to full time profession.
Yes, exactly, you can convert your hobby to real profession. What a dream to ride your bike around the world and get paid from that!
