Almost 200 children are currently waiting on organ transplants in the UK. For some, a young donor is their only hope. But statistics show families are significantly less likely to consent to donation when a child dies, compared to when an adult relative passes away.
The NHS's Blood and Transplant Service (NHSBT) is hoping to change this by launching its first ever paediatric strategy aimed at supporting parents in making those difficult decisions.
