Join this great talk and engaging Q&A with Simone Lee, President of Friends of Confederation Creek.
Confederation Park is where most Calgarians know Confederation Creek, and its presence may be why Confederation Park is Calgary's most popular park and was declared a Municipal Historic Resource. However, where the Creek runs underground it is "out of sight, out of mind" for most.
The Friends of Confederation Creek (FOCC) have been advocating for the health of Confederation Creek for numerous years and have been researching about the natural and man-made watershed of what was formerly called The North Hill Coulee. This coulee was formed by the retreat of Ice Age glaciers and there has been water flowing in it, around the southern foot of Nose Hill since that time. However, much of that history is not well known due to ongoing development, and the entombment of Confederation Creek's source waters from Nose Hill. This has had a significant impact on the health of this valuable amenity, and its surrounding communities.
Friends of Confederation Creek is proud to be unveiling "Uncovering Confederation Creek," way-finding pamphlet mapping of the Creek and its tributaries, made possible by a grant from the Land Stewardship Centre.
Come learn about where Confederation Creek comes from, where it goes, and what its future may hold.
