A British yachtswoman has said that she saw a plane on fire on the same night Malaysia Airlines aircraft MH370 went missing.
Katherine Tee and her husband were sailing to Phuket, Thailand, from Cochin, India on March 8. Tee said she was alone on the deck doing night watch when she said she saw a large plane with orange lights in the sky trailing a plume of black smoke.
"I saw something that looked like a plane on fire. That's what I thought it was. Then, I thought I must be mad... It caught my attention because I had never seen a plane with orange lights before, so I wondered what they were," Tee told the Phuket Gazette. "I could see the outline of the plane, it looked longer than planes usually do. There was what appeared to be black smoke streaming from behind it."
According to Tee, two other planes were flying well above the burning aircraft. Both planes failed to notice the other aircraft in flames.
Tee reported what she saw to the Joint Agency Coordination Centre, which is coordinating the search for MH370.
