The 1890s are celebrating the 125th anniversary of the signing of The Second Morrill Act of 1890, which established land-grant institutions in the 17 states that would not allow the admission of African-Americans in the land-grant institutions established by The First Morrill Act of 1862. Now, 125 years later, nineteen 1890 universities are providing access and enhancing opportunities for people from all walks of life through innovative scientific research, distinctive teaching, and community-minded Extension programs.
