We showed a video on the initial driving impressions when we picked up a 2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD Offroad. It’s completely stock. You may know, but the owner Carl is a Toyota lover through & through. A full build was planned for Suspension, Armor, 35’s and 5.29’s but after daily driving it Carl realized something needed to change. He already knew the factory gearing was horrible (3.90 w/ a .58 overdrive = 2.26 final drive) but soon realized that 6th gear was useless. This meant that in 5th (or sometimes 4th) on the highway it was constantly shifting, and getting horrible milage. So we decided to install some Nitro Gear 4.88’s as our first modification. RPM Figures are similar for Overseas Hilux Revo. And yes, even if you have a diesel, you will still benefit from the gearing. 4.88 is ideal for 33-35” on Turbo Diesel models. We have actually toured 1000’s of miles of the Australia in a Diesel Hilux with 35” and 4.88, and it performed flawlessly.
