I was foraging for wild edibles in New York during spring (mid May, 2015). I hiked into a mountainside forest on public land. I was hunting for wild leeks (ramps) that I found by chance earlier in the week. I found a mother lode of leeks and harvested enough to fill a bucket while still leaving tens of thousands behind.
