South Korean officials said Monday they will conduct safety inspections of all Boeing 737-800 aircraft operated by the country’s airlines, as they struggle to determine what caused a plane to crash and kill 179 people on Sunday.
The black box from the crashed Boeing 737-800 aircraft will be transferred to Gimpo Airport's Test and Analysis Centre, where it will be checked for the possibility for analysis, according to the ministry. In addition, the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will be joining in the accident investigations, officials added.
Meanwhile, people paid their respects at a memorial and families of the crash victims hoped to recover the remains of their loved ones soon. According to Park Han-shin, a representative of the victims' families, "The bodies are so severely damaged that we are in a situation where we need to recover and piece them together one by one."
