Early Friday morning between 12 and 4 a.m., around 25 counter-protestors, some wearing Israeli flags, gathered outside the pro-Palestinian encampment in Alumni Park.
They played loud music, blew whistles, shouted at protestors in the encampment, and set up a screen showing graphic scenes from the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas that sparked the conflict.
A first-year student who could hear the music from Pardee Tower told Annenberg Media that when they asked DPS officers to tell the counter-protestors to turn the volume down, officers told the student they could not. When reporters asked the officers for a comment, one officer said, “we’re just trying to keep the peace”.
