This video describes the simple concept of Power over Ethernet (PoE).
Devices must be able to support PoE to connect to a PoE cable switch over an ethernet cable.
PoE is an acronym for Power over Ethernet, an IEEE standard, defined to enable DC power to be carried over the same transmission media used for ethernet-based communications on a network.
To support POE, a power sourcing equipment (or PSE) is required. This hardware generates the PoE power required for redistribution to powered devices or PDs through a PoE capable transmission media. This method of delivering power to network terminals is very convenient as it eliminates the need to power each terminal with a power adapter. It also provides great cost savings, saves space, and eliminates additional cable management workload in your data center.
