This 20-minute film was made in 1973 by the National Parks Service for use as an orientation film to be shown to visitors to Mount Rushmore. It shows some of the history of the carving of the monument, supervised by master sculptor Gutzon Borglum (1867-1941), with film footage from the 1920s and 1930s, including shots of Pres. Calvin Coolidge at the 1927 dedication. However, the film’s emphasis is on the four presidents represented in the monument, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt, and there are segments devoted to each. Narrated by Burgess Meredith.
