U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit Soldiers from the Service Rifle Team competed at the 2019 Civilian Marksmanship Program's Eastern Games in Butner, North Carolina the first week in May. The first match they had to nail down was the CMP 4-Man Team Match.
This course of fire had the each member of the team fire a total of 50 rounds at the following: 10 rounds at 100 yards (standing) in 10 minutes; 10 rounds at 200 yards (sitting or kneeling) in 60 seconds; 10 rounds at 300 yards (prone from standing) in 70 seconds; and 20 rounds at 600 yards (prone) in 20 minutes.
Team USAMU Craig seized 1st place with a 1985-84x. Team members were Sgt. Benjamin Cleland, Sgt. Lane Ichord, Staff Sgt. David Bahten, Sgt. 1st Class Brandon Green and Sgt. 1st Class Walter Craig (coach).
Team USAMU Elsenboss took 2nd place with a 1963-77x. Team members were Pvt. Kade Jackovich, Sgt. Verne Conant, Staff Sgt. Cody Shields, and Staff Sgt. Amanda Elsenboss.
Team USAMU Hess took 4th place with a 1951-73x, Team members were Sgt. Jarrod McGaffic, Sgt. Christopher Hudock, Staff Sgt. Erin McNeil and Sgt. 1st Class Evan Hess.
And then a couple USAMU Soldiers teamed up with some Marines to make the Combined Team who placed 5th with a 1951-58x. Team members were USAMU's Specialists Forrest Greenwood and Johnathon Wannemacher and U.S. Marine Corps' Sgt. Christopher Williams and Staff Sgt. Stephen Ferguson.
In total, there were 22 teams from across the United States competing in the team match.
