The stunning swirl finishes on the handsome Gibson Les Paul Studio occurred completely by accident and was in fact down to the terrible flooding that was experienced by the Nashville area in the summer of 2010. Much of the Gibson factory based outside of Nashville was damaged by the flood and during a post-flood inspection of the paint storage area it was discovered that many of the paint barrels had leaked and the flood waters had swirled them together in a psychedelic multi-coloured swirl ....
Out of this carnage was born the idea of replicating the swirled effect as a guitar finish and hey presto, here we have the Gibson Les Paul Studio finished in an eye-catching black/green swirl ... A clever twist on this model is the use of Black stained Obeche wood that is deployed on the fret-board as an alternative to the usual Rosewood ....
Otherwise this fine Gibson Les Paul Studio model has all the trappings of what we have come to expect of a classic Les Paul with a Mahogany body and neck complimented by a carved Maple top. Sound comes from a Gibson 498T (bridge) and 490R (neck) hum-bucker, controlled by the usual two tone and two volume rotary knobs along with a 3-way selector toggle switch located at the left hand shoulder of the instrument.
The bridge is the standard tune-o-matic model with an accompanying stop-bar tailpiece ... At the opposite end of the instrument you'll find Grover smooth-action machine heads that are guaranteed to hold stable, accurate tuning. This beautiful instrument also comes with a Gibson Hard Shell case, so check out this beauty on your next visit to PMT ...
