(9 May 2018) The eyes of the world are watching what happens next now that the Trump administration backed the United States out of the Iran nuclear deal. But the Levinson family is watching extra closely hoping the move somehow leads to finding their loved one, Bob, who went missing in Iran over a decade ago. The family believes he's being held prisoner.
"What we do hope this initiates and what this sparks is a renewed conversation about Bob Levinson and that in the future any negotiation between Iran and the United States, that he becomes a priority and is at the forefront of any discussions." Says Bob's son David.
The family of Bob Levinson, who disappeared from an Iranian island in March 2007 hope President Donald Trump's decision announced on Tuesday to withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal will not make it harder to get their love one freed. Family members remain positive, "Anytime the United States and Iran are talking, it's an opportunity for my father's case to be at the forefront of the conversation and hopefully there can be resolution to bring him home." Said Levinson who articulated the pain of missing his father for 11 years. "He has never met my son, nor does he know I'm married. He has no idea that his namesake Bobby Boothe who is my sister's son had cancer a couple of years ago, was able to overcome that cancer. He has no idea my son Nate just started walking, and can say several words including mama and dada now. He's never met any of these grandchildren except for one and our heart breaks every day because we know how desperately he wants to get home and see his family again."
