This clip shows a Great Tit (Parus major) arriving at 14.07. It hops up onto the nest, potters about for a few moments before departing, but then returns in a flash. I slowed it down to 1/16 and zoomed in, and it can be seen it's definitely the Great Tit returning for a hyper-fast whizz across the nest. Thanks to WT forum chatters Dornfield for spotting its return, and Warthogz for the ID. Dornfield for the ID who provided this description: "Striking plumage with a greenish yellow beast divided by a dark stripe all the way from chin to out of sight!".
The nest is empty right now but the countdown clock is running and the Osprey are due back very soon, any minute now! See expected arrival dates here [ Ссылка ]?
Will Louis and Dorcha both return and move to this nest from the non-cam nest they favoured last year? Will young pair Affric (Blue 152) and YP the Stranger take up residence? Will 2019's chick Rannoch JJ2 recently sighted in Senegal and confirmed to be male not female as originally thought, decide to return to his natal nest? Or perhaps his sibling Mallie JJ0, also determined to be female but with question marks, turn out to be male and come home? Or even the most thrilling possibility of all, Aila returns, having been blown off course in the extreme weather event which occurred around the time she was due back last year??
So many possibilities - the only thing certain is that many pairs of eyes will be watching..
