Pig Fat & Fish Oil in Tirupati Laddoos: Andhra Pradesh CM Naidu | Subscribe to Firstpost
A row erupts over sweets offered at Tirupati Balaji temple in the southern coastal state of Andhra Pradesh. A lab report, by NDDB CALF Ltd, suggests laddoos, offered to devotees at the temple as Prasadam, contain foreign fat. The report states laddoos contain palm oil, fish oil, beef tallow, and lard, which are obtained by rendering the fatty tissue of a pig. Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu blames the previous YSRCP government for using substandard ingredients in making the Tirupati laddoos. Opposition YSRCP calls Naidu’s allegations “malicious” and says Naidu damaged the sanctity of holy Tirumala and the faith of Hindus. Meanwhile, the Congress party calls for a high-level probe into the allegations.
