✨lessons from the fairies ✨

A “fairy ring” is used to describe a number of growth patterns in nature. Last winter a colony of “poison pie” mushrooms made a fairy ring around my coast live oak, for example.

This particular ring though was influenced by human hubris—cutting down ancient trees to make a buck. Only 5% of old grow redwoods remain. The fairy redwoods in this ring will take hundreds of years to become old growth like their mother.

We really should be protecting these, don’t ya think?
