This was just a fun comparison after I added high clearance links to my parts bin built. I was somewhat surprised to find that straight links. actually slid better over certain surfaces depending on the angle. on the lower level obstacle, the high clearance links meant the truck needed to find more grip to lift the back of the rig rather than just slide it as it did with straight links.
however, when it came to larger obstacles, the high clearance links couldn't be beaten. and I'm sure out in the real world the benefits of the high clearance links far out way straight links.
As a note I had more preload on the rear shocks with the high clearance links but actual think that may have hurt more than help.
