The presentation ceremony of the tenth edition of the BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Awards, held on the evening of Wednesday 13th in the Marqués de Salamanca Palace, Madrid, issued a call to strengthen society’s scientific culture as a bulwark against decision processes that disregard the evidence on issues of vital collective importance, and, in doing so, pave the way for populist leaders.
