Daikanyama Tsutaya Books is a well-known bookstore located in Tokyo's trendy neighborhood of Daikanyama. It is considered one of the largest bookstores in Tokyo and a popular destination for book lovers. The store features a wide selection of books, including bestsellers, international titles, and local publications, as well as a cafe and event space. Visitors can spend hours browsing the shelves, grabbing a coffee, and attending cultural events and author signings.
I am on a mission to showcase a bookstore in Tokyo, preserving its history for posterity. The sight of individuals leisurely browsing and reading in a bookstore is breathtaking. They exude a sense of peace and tranquility. I aim to capture this essence through photography. To document the value of each book in 2023, I have included the price tags in my tour. The bookstore boasts a fascinating collection of unique Japanese books that will surely pique your interest.
Bookstores hold a special place in my heart as they embody a culture, a movement, and a trend. Unfortunately, bookstores in Japan are declining at an alarming rate and their future is uncertain as the world increasingly shifts to digital media. Hence, I find it important to capture this moment in time and have something to look back on in the future.
