Learn how you can enable or disable apps background data usage on the Samsung Galaxy S23/S23+/Ultra.
This demonstration is running on Android 13.
The purpose of Apps Background Data Usage on Samsung phones is to allow apps to continue to operate and perform certain functions even when they are not actively in use on the screen. This feature enables the app to receive notifications, sync data in the background, and download updates while you are not actively using the app.
For example, if you have an email app installed on your Samsung phone and you have enabled background data usage for it, the app can continue to check for new emails and receive notifications even when you are not actively using the app. Similarly, social media apps can continue to sync data and show you new content, even when the app is not actively open on your phone.
However, enabling background data usage for apps can consume a significant amount of cellular or WiFi data, depending on the frequency and amount of data the app needs to sync or download. Therefore, it is important to monitor the background data usage of each app to ensure that it does not consume too much of your cellular or WiFi data plan.
You can adjust the background data usage settings for each app on your Samsung phone by going to "Settings" ➔ "Apps" or "Apps & notifications" ➔ selecting the app ➔ "Mobile data" ➔ "Background data". From there, you can choose to allow or restrict the app's background data usage.
