Art book FF1-6: [ Ссылка ] (crazy expensive o_o; )
Amazon has the artbooks separate as well, search, ''Amano art book''. Or the final fantasy ultimania art books.
The Sky is the real definition of an art book. It Only shows the full blown illustrations of the final fantasy artist. All books are hardcover, Book 1 focuses on Final Fantasy 1 to 3. It is 143 pages of pure art. Where FF1 is covered through 28 pages, Final fantasy 2, 56 pages and FF3 45 pages.
Interestingly As Final fantasy 1 is based on the warriors of light, which are a total of six avatars on the NES game mainly monster art is shown in this section. This is defiantly not a bad thing as these images are high quality and have great detailed - really showing his artistic talent.
What I think is cool is that he starts with mainly, colorless monster art. This must have been a couple of reasons during the development of this game. Such as time lines, money and the NES limited graphic abilities. However If w ego to the second game, the money earned of the first entry can be seen though him using more color. He starts off with coloring only the eyes and develops into real full blown monster art later on. Final fantasy 2 has more well developed protagonists, and these are clearly displayed.
Anyways. Final Fantasy three shows almost all monsters, bosses and summons in full color. I personally would like to see his take on all the different classical final fantasy jobs in his style. These are also not shown in the ultimania archive so I think he never made these.
So this first book is really cool to have however its packed in a book case with the second and third book as well, however I separated the total in two videos, so now I go on the third book. This one focuses on Final Fantasy 7, FF8, FF9 and FF10. It is 153 pages and very similar to the first book it only shows illustrations, no artist comments or details on development, for that the ultimania archive is best. Final fantasy 7 has 21 pages, Final Fantasy 8 16 pages, FF9 56 pages and FF10 35 pages.
Right of the bat I can say all his male protaganist have a bit off female vibe to it, however it still clearly shows that they are male. Its interesting that the concept art of FF7 was different then the end game story choices. Red thirteen was close to Cloud, as they are a lot displayed in combination. I think Earis showed a more important relationship with Cloud and Sephiroth then finally intended to. In addition Cloud buster sword was normal sized. Final fantasy 8 does show the imagery that we suspect of Squall and gang. His rivalry with Seifer, RInoa his love interest. Only some pages give him blond Hair Which i Find interesting. Final Fantasy 9 section is a bit more unique, Yoshitaka Amana clearly shows concept art of Zidane and Dagger, I think thats cool, changing appearance slightly to look whats suited best. As Dagger for example is displayed with blond hair, long and short to really feel what is used in the game and at which point of time in the story events. Final Fantasy 10 shows a lot of full imagery art with dark brownish background, as if drawn on old sheet on paper. These drawing clearly feel artistic showing some of the key elements of the game, such as Tidus - Yuna relationship, Blitz ball and Sin. In the end there are some additional drawing on 4 later installments. These books are great to have, if you like the style - If you don't like it so much then it is not for you.
