When the water warms up in the Spring, especially up North, things can change in a hurry and cause a bunch of things to happen at the same time. I start this trip catching some bass in a trench of deep water leading into a spawning bay. There are also fish on beds, plus some out on the first main lake point. The numbers weren't concentrated and covering water with a swim jig seemed to work pretty good. A mix of retrieves also helped. Most of the time I'm using a 5" grub as my trailer, but like to mix in the 3.8" swimmer with the paddle tail sometimes. You can't go wrong with either choice.
