The Stanier 8F was a heavy freight locomotive built in large numbers. Number 48476 Is a Graham Farish model in out of the box condition. The Tender air vents should be Black but have never been painted as that is how they came. This is a Poole factory model with NQP QC but runs well and is capable of prototypical load haulage. 48601 is the same model with the addition of a kit built Fowler Tender, added crew and running lights, real coal etc.
We finish with the real thing sporting a red passenger livery which caused some comment however, it is a preserved engine so the owner(s) can
paint it any colour they want! The last 10 seconds of the video are the highlight for me, featuring the clank of the side rods and the mournfull Northwestern whistle that I remember so well.
