Simon presents the new ebm-papst RadiPac EC plug fan. This backward-curved centrifugal fan is intended for use in air-handling units, air-conditioning units and high-volume ventilation. The existing RadiPac design was optimised in three areas:
• impeller
• motor
• assembly
The product was independently tested at Dresden's Institute for Air Handling and Refrigeration, showing an efficiency increase of more than 10% and noise reduction by more than 3 dB(A). The fan was also tested in comparison to a manufacturer who also develops EC external rotor motors and a company which uses corresponding control electronics with permanent-magnet internal rotor motors, with the RadiPac exceeding both of them in performance and noise.
The test results are an important part of the ebm-papst product selection program, which can be accessed via the ebm-papst A&NZ document server: [ Ссылка ].
Improvements in detail
The impeller's blade design was changed to an aerofoil design with an inclined delivery angle. The inlet conditions were optimised at the inlet ring and also at the air intake area.
The positioning of the motor was optimised, so that the motor causes less turbulence inside the fan and the efficiency is increased.
The design of the motor was revised with regards to the electronics and its mechanical layout to considerably improve efficiency.
The assembly itself was improved with regards to the design and positioning of the fan assembly's mounting arms. This has helped in reducing noise of the total assembly.
