Native to Africa Asia, and Australia, Python leather is extremely sought after in the fashion world. These snakes are non-venomous and longest species in the world. It is nearly impossible to know after the fact if the snakes were caught illegally. In Malaysia particularly, exporting snakeskin is illegal, however it still makes its way into the European market. The dyes used on the leather for permanent colour are extremely toxic and harmful to both the workers and the environment, and the snakes are killed in a violent method. When earning €25 per snake, it’s enough to feed their family, and animal conservation is an unknown concept to them.
