RESOURCE GUARDING IS A SERIOUS ISSUE AND SHOULD BE DEALT WITH STRAIGHT AWAY BEFORE IT ESCALATES.
There seems to be a common go to method when a dog steals things and that’s to offer a trade for an alternative reward.
Problem with this is, eventually the reward we offer may not be able to match the thing the dog has, therefore they can choose not to give it up.
The other problem with this method, is it actually encourages the dog to steal things.
Both of the above are major reasons the dog starts to resource guard.
Good news is, if you deal with it swiftly the issue can quickly go away.
