Hi Friends! Today I want to show you how to cook a brisket in the oven so that you can eat all week off of it. I have to admit, this is probably one of my favorite cut of meats to eat but it has been intimidating for me in the past. Probably because it's not a cut that I grew up on. I don't even think I had seen this cut of meat until I was well into my 20's. Now, I can't see myself not knowing about it. It's tender, full of flavor and very versatile. Try it by itself served with veggies or maybe even in tacos/quesadillas/tostados/taquitos, or in omlets, which would be my favorite. Now, I'm hungry. Ya'll let me know what you think.
Seasoning
1 packet of Lipton Onion Soup Mix
1/4 cup worcestershire
1 can of beef consome
Plenty of your favorite store bought barbecue rub. (check out my amazon store for my suggestion)
****You will need about a 6-7 lb brisket for this recipe. Wash it well and pat it dry so the dry rub will stick.
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 F.
Generously coat your brisket with your BBQ rub. I cant say it enough, be generous with the seasoning. This is a huge and thick piece of meat that you have to season it. Make sure you really take your time to press the seasoning into the meat and get all the edges. If you think you have enough, add a little extra cause you likely don't.
After you've seasoned the meat, place the meat in an aluminum baking pan, full sheet size, with the fat side up. In a large mixing cup, mix together the full can of consome, worcestershire, and Lipton Soup mIx, and pour it in the bottom of the pan. DON'T pour it over the meat because you don't want to wash away the seasoning.
Cover it with aluminum foil and place in on the middle rack of the oven and bake for 4.5 hours.
Once finished cooking, let it sit for 15 minutes and then serve as you desire.
