Syria's main political opposition group, the Syrian National Coalition has agreed to attend next week's Geneva II peace talks, to be held in Montreux, Switzerland. Syria's opposition chief Ahmad Jarba said the talks would be "a turning point" in the war to topple President Bashar al-Assad and his regime. US Secretary of State John Kerry welcomed the decision, taken at talks in Istanbul, calling it "courageous".
