Destiny is set seven hundred years into the future in a post-apocalyptic setting. It follows a period of exploration, peace and technological advancement known as the Golden Age. In a universe where humans have relocated and colonized planets in the Solar System, an event known as "the Collapse" saw the mysterious dissolution of these colonies, the end of the Golden Age, and mankind is now tipping on the brink of extinction. The only known survivors of the Collapse are those living on Earth, who were saved by "the Traveler", a white, spherical celestial body whose appearance centuries before had enabled humans to reach the stars. The Traveller now hovers above the last remaining human city, and its presence allows the "Guardians of the City"—the last defenders of the human race—the ability to wield an unknown power, only referred to as "The Light".

Upon mankind's first attempt to repopulate and reconstruct after the Collapse, it is discovered that hostile alien races have occupied mankind's former colonies and civilizations and are now encroaching upon the City. The player takes on the role of a Guardian of the City, and is tasked with reviving the Traveler while investigating and destroying the alien threats before humanity is completely wiped out. Destiny The Game was released on September 9th, 2014, the main endgame activity was the Vault of Glass raid. A vex vault filled with secrets and horror, as Atheon, the Time Conflux attempts to trap you and become lost in time.

On December 9th, 2014 the first expansion for Destiny, 'The Dark Below' was released for £/$20. This expansion saw Guardians take on the Hive God known as Crota, Son of Oryx who attempts to slay every guardian in his presence. You take on Crota in the Crota's End Raid.

On May 19th, 2015 the second expansion for Destiny, 'House of Wolves' was released for £/$20. This expansion saw Guardians take on Skolas, Kell of Kells who attempts to re-claim the Fallen House of Wolves. You take on Skolas in the Prison of Elders Arena challenge. Along with the new Prison of Elders Arena, we saw Trials of Osiris; a new type of end-game activity, aimed at the most elite and fearful crucible slayers to impress Brother Vance, Disciple of Osiris.

On September 15th, 2015 the first major expansion was released for Destiny, The Taken King and priced at £/$40. This expansion also came with a collector's edition for an additional £/$40. This expansion saw Guardians take on Oryx, who is known as King to the 'Taken'. The Taken are Minions of the Darkness who are ripped into the Taken Dimension by Oryx to become a Taken themselves. Guardians set course for the King's Fall raid to stop his attack on the universe.

On October 13th, 2015. Tess returned to the tower with new emotes, like the ones that came with the collector's edition of the Taken King. These emotes can be purchased for 'Silver', a new in-game currency bought with real money. (Micro-Transactions)
